Research & Design Process

As my research progressed, I created a makeshift setup of various lights throughout the light lab. This allowed me to use multiple gels at once, from different fixtures, angles, and intensities, to test how colors would appear when overlapping on the set.

A unique challenge I faced was the show almost entirely taking place in one room. I experimented with ways to diversify the space throughout each scene, and took advantage of the large windows to demonstrate time of day and position of the sun as the plot advanced through each season.

Selecting gel colors was a process that took lots of intricate planning! Looking through the wide array of brands, sizes, and opacities gave me an opportunity to be very specific in my design process.

My favorite step in the design process was programming. I spent hours at the board, both virtually in Augment3d and in the theatre, making adjustments, fine tuning movement, and finding unique solutions for any change requested or problem that arose.
