Queen Margaret

My goal was to physically show Margaret gaining influence throughout the play. At pivotal personal moments in the script, this gobo would slowly rise depicting tree roots growing from the throne. It also gained intensity when the script discusses the Sacred Tree of England being defaced.

This was the largest electrics production I had ever been a part of. It was also my first time working on lighting in our black box theatre. I enjoyed the experience of problem solving and being creative as a team to work within the confines of the space. I believe this hands on experience greatly expanded my knowledge and confidence with cabling and electrics work. 

As our design progressed, I had the opportunity to choose and plan multiple gobos on our plot. These included tree branches we used as roots, blood splatter, and stained glass. When programming our sanctuary scene we decided to overlap two lights, and create multicolor beams by combining pieces of blue and orange gels.   

A unique learning experience during this show was balancing warm toned and cool toned lights, while also creating an even wash. Working with a large amount of moving lights helped cover all other areas outside the stationary light's reach. They also were extremely helpful by adding and blending colors for each cue/scene depending on the action.
